Does solar work for me?
Our team will work with you to determine the best options for solar installation on your facility or across your building portfolio.
The viability of a solar project is determined by a variety of factors, including local market incentives, site conditions, and electric usage. We provide a broad overview to help you understand the considerations involved. Our team will work with you to determine the best options for solar installation in your facility portfolio.
What locations maximize solar’s potential?
The most economic solar installations are in states and utility districts with good financial incentives and high interconnection limits. The following specific locations make excellent candidates for solar:
Rooftop
- Large roof or roofs (50,000+ sq. ft)
- Flat or slightly pitched
- Minimal rooftop equipment
- Minimal shading from trees or buildings for the next 20 years
- New roof (less than 7 years old), or an old roof in need of replacement
- High electricity rates and/or bills, often with large demand (or peak use) charges
Ground
- 5+ acres of un-shaded area that can be fenced off
- No other use for the next 20 years, maybe due to zoning limitations
- Close to an interconnection point or proximate to the users’ building
What industries maximize solar’s potential?
Commercial Real Estate
- A solar installation communicates social responsibility to tenants and visitors.
- Helps attract and retain tenants
- High electricity usage during daytime hours
- Comfortable environment as a core product feature
Industrial
- A solar PV system on a large rooftop can offset anywhere from 10-40% of a facility’s annual demand. Facilities can receive payment for reducing demand during system load peaks and generate offsetting power in-house.
- High electricity bills across the year
- Large rooftops
- High and stable electricity usage during peak periods
Federal Government/GSA, and State & Local Government
- A solar installation sends a positive signal to the community and usually reduces the total cost of occupancy. TectaSolar team members have extensive experience with federal & municipal bonding programs.
- Demonstrate social responsibility to taxpayers
Utility
- The members of TectaSolar have developed and financed over 4 MWp of ground-mounted, utility-scale solar PV.
